Why By Design

When thinking about what I desired for my counseling practice to be named, I started with what was important to me…what I truly hope people will feel when they come into the doors of my office for the first time.

I want people to feel more connected to who they are, and feel like they have a place where they can just be without judgement or expectation.

Because every person is different. Because every person’s problems and emotions are unique to their situation, I decided I had to name my practice “By Design”. I truly believe you were designed uniquely, and my desire is to know you individually, and to determine what you want from counseling and what will help you move forward. That’s always the goal…growth.

So, my counseling style is very personable, relaxed and comfortable. It’s a conversation between two people with the united desire for forward movement. As I get to know you, the counseling modalities I utilize will be with you specifically in mind. I don’t do the same thing with every client. I take the time to truly consider what you are struggling with, and what it will take for you to get “unstuck”. I also hope that when you come to counseling you will see the value in having a safe place to say whatever you need, and you will realize it’s not as intimidating as it once may have seemed.

I’m not here to give you all the answers but to help guide you to the place where you realize you are designed with the resiliency and grit to walk through the most difficult moments in life, and come out better on the other side. We are designed to be in relationship with one another, and while you can handle anything, you aren’t meant to go it alone.

My hope is that Counseling By Design is a safe haven for you to be yourself, to be honest about your struggles, to be willing to stretch and try new things, and gain a new perspective which will propel you forward.
